Teixidors

TEIXIDORS is a project spawn from social unrest and the necessity to generate opportunities.

It all started in the early ‘80s in a small workshop in Terrassa, Catalonia, where six people with psychological disabilities learnt to work with crafts. Since its beginnings, TEIXIDORS has trained people in the art of hand weaving, with the aim of successfully integrating them into society and the workplace. They maintain that the important thing is to accompany them and provide the appropriate information and support: it all depends upon the degree of confidence that you give a person.

These days TEIXIDORS has a large team of workers with disabilities, the majority of which are partners of the company. They use manual production as a form of therapy and all their work processes are carried out in an environmentally friendly way.

They create unique one-off products produced entirely by hand with high quality materials. This has earned them national and international recognition in the form of prizes such as the DME award for best design management and the BBVA’s Premio Integra.

A somewhat utopian project of dream-turned-reality that goes to show that good ideas can come to fruition with the determination and patience of those committed to their society and to the environment.
